Leptomedusae - Jellyfish dkwsport intellectual elegance to a studySmaller and more intricate than Haeckel's famous disc jellyfish, the leptomedusae in this plate are tiny hydrozoan bells, drawn with a jeweller's attention to detail. Their fine radial canals, fringed margins and threadlike tentacles are arranged in a balanced, almost kaleidoscopic composition, set against a deep background so that each pale bell seems to float and glow.
