Taken from preparatory drawings by Royal Pavilion conservator Anne Sowden. The carpet was an integral part of Jones's overall design for the saloon. The pattern radiates from a central sunflower, a motif repeated throughout the room. The boarder of flowers and leaves was botanically accurate and specific summer plants growing in the Royal Pavilion's gardens
