Recorded at her own Martian Engineering Studios, the album was self produced and mixed by her husband Mark Hawley and Marcel van Limbeek. The album features a stripped back, acoustic sound with many of the songs' arrangements consisting solely of Amos's vocals and piano. Lyrically, many songs were influenced
